Update leave opening balance

Accessible to : HR Manager

The opening balance of a leave can be updated by the HR Manager at any point of time. When a new leave is created it is created with a zero opening balance in such a case the opening balance needs to be manually updated. This facility can also be used to make modifications in opening balance due to specific requirements.

You can update the opening balance of resigned employees by clicking on "Resigned" radio button.


  1. Update balance by Employee Name : use this option if you know the Employee name for which you have to update the opening balances across all leave types
  2. Update balance by Leave Type : use this option if you want to update the opening balance for all employees for one Leave Type
  3. Click on "Get Records" this will show the list of employees


  1. The existing opening balance value can be seen in the second last column and the same can be updated manually
  2. Data can also be updated using the bulk excel upload feature
  3. Reason can be captured here to record the reason for this updation, this is an optional field

Note :
1. Even if you don’t update the opening balance, the leave is available and employees can take the leave
2. You can update the opening balance of a leaves for any employee for all leaves except Per incidence or Restricted Holiday leaves. The only Per incidence leave where opening balance can be manually updated is two step Compensatory Off which is a system defined leave. The compensatory leaves granted from this section will not have any expiry but they will be consumed first.
3. Any update done to the opening balance can be seen in Details of Leave Credit report
4. This feature is not available for two step Compensatory Off leave grant
