For employees, this system allows to easily determine their leave availability and request leave online through a browser or mobile app. Managers, HR can also apply for leaves on behalf of employees (if configured).
As an employee you can :
- View your leave balance and details of accrual / consumption on leave home
page
- Apply for leave
- Withdraw an applied leave
- View historical information of all the leaves you have taken
Leave Categories
There are two primary leave categories used in the application -
1. Leaves - this is the general category and different types of leaves can be
created within this
2. Restricted Holidays - sometimes companies allow employees to select their
holidays from a larger set of holidays, these are modeled as Restricted Holidays
but taken as leaves. This feature can be enabled from Calendar setup (Restricted holidays are defined in calendar).
Leave Accrual
Accrual of leaves into your account happens based on the leave policy defined
by the company. There are three types of accrual methods
1. Periodic accruals - if you want to grant certain leaves on a periodic basis you can use this type. For example 1 leave can be accrued beginning of month or 3 leaves can be accrued beginning of quarter. Periodic accruals can be designed for daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly or annual periods
2. Incidence based - sometimes you would like to give employees leaves based on an incidence like compensatory off, maternity leave, birthday leaves, restricted holidays
3. Lumpsum - you might have a policy which grants a lumpsum amount of leaves which can be taken across the whole employment like education leave, paternity leave
System Defined Leaves
EazeWork HRMS has the following system defined leaves which address some specific requirements

1. Leave Without Pay (LWP) : LWP leads to a deduction of salary in payroll module
and hence should be ideally used as a last resort. It is available as default
and cannot be edited or deleted. LWP data is used while running payroll to deduct
salary
2. Compensatory Off : Compensatory Off is given in lieu of working on weekends
or holidays. For more details on Compensatory Off leave refer to the article on Compensatory Off overview
3. Birthday Leave : an optional feature, if activated gives the employee a leave
on his birthday automatically
4. Leaves as per Maternity Benefit Act : There are three leaves - Maternity Leave,
Adoption Leave and Commissioning Leave - which are available only for companies
registered in India and are designed as per Maternity Benefit Act 2017.
All these six leaves once activated cannot be deleted.
Leave Encashment
Based on your company's policies you might be able to encash some leave types.
System will send you an alert and you would be asked to input the value of leaves
you want to encash. If Payroll is integrated the payment is done in next payroll
cycle. Refer to the article on Leave encashment for more details.
Carry Forward to Next Year
Year end treatment of leaves depends on the company policy, there might be a
rule which will allow you to carry forward only a limited number of leaves. Anything
beyond that limit is lapsed on 31st December. EazeWork HRMS allows the Administrator
to configure such rules for each leave type.
Leaves during Probation period, Notice period
Companies have different leave policies for employees who are on probation or
are serving notice period as against regular employees. These policies can be
configured in setup.
Gifting of Leaves
This is a feature which allows employees to gift leaves in their balance to any
other employee. Would be available if activated in setup by Administrator. Refer

Partial Leaves
Some companies allow employees to take quarter, half, 0.75 day leaves. This feature
is available and has to be activated in the leave setup for the leave type where
partial days leaves are to be allowed. Refer to the article on Partial Leaves for more details.
Rounding of Leaves
Sometimes the leave accrual is done in decimals, in such cases to simplify the
view the leaves are shown to the employee after rounding them off. For example,
your leave balance might be 2.37 but the system will show it to you as 2, allowing
you to take 2 days leave. The remainder of 0.37 is not ignored and is visible
in the Accrued field.
